Folin Named Ccm USHL Co-Defenseman of the Week

CHICAGO, IL - The United States Hockey League today announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 21st week of the 2013-14 USHL regular season.

Winners include Joe Snively of the Sioux City Musketeers, recognized as CCM Forward of the Week; Zach Frye of the Lincoln Stars and Niklas Folin of the Omaha Lancers, chosen as co-recipients of CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Hayden Stewart of the Indiana Ice, named Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Niklas Folin, D, Omaha Lancers: Skating in his second full USHL season, the defenseman nearly doubled his season point total, registering four points (1g, 3a) and helping the Lancers earn two wins. He scored his first USHL career goal, a power play tally, and added one assist in Friday's 7-1 win over the Sioux Falls Stampede. The Gothenburg, Sweden native dished out two more assists in Saturday's 7-3 win over Lincoln, the 30th victory of the season for Omaha. The 20-year-old also played a key role on special teams, helping the Lancers penalty kill go a perfect 7-for-7 and the power play convert 5-of-9 chances. Folin has totaled 10 points (1g, 9a) in 29 games this season.

Next up for the Lancers, it's a Valentine's Day clash with the Lincoln Stars at the Icebox Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday at 7:05 pm in the final meeting between the two fierce rivals this season.
