Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive end Brent Hawkins has been named the CFL's Gibson's Finest Defensive Player of the Week.
Hawkins was a dominant force on the defensive line for the Riders 37-18 victory over the Lions at B.C.'s Empire Field on Saturday. In just his second CFL regular season game, Hawkins recorded two defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks and a forced fumble. Hawkins recovered that fumble and returned it 40 yards for a game clinching touchdown.
Hawkins joins teammates Darian Durant and Andy Fantuz as weekly award winners this season.
