
Havoc Rallies, Holds on for 5-4 Win over RiverKings

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc fell behind early, rallied in the second period and held back the Mississippi RiverKings in the third to grab a 5-4 win in SPHL pre-season action.
Huntsville took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Mississippi RiverKings storm back on a Corey Banfield goal 16:42 into the third period to pull to one goal down.
Mike Gurtlerhad a great game for the Havoc, netting two goals.
Huntsville made Mississippi RiverKings' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 43 shots and forcing 38 saves. Dan McWhinney made 19 stops and Matthew Krahn made 19. The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.
Nick Lazorko also scored for Huntsville. More assists for Huntsville came via Josh Harris, who had two and Justin Cseter, Brandon Perry, Scott Morongell, and Justin Brausen, who contributed one a piece.
Mississippi RiverKings was led by Devin Mantha, who tallied three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Dale Deon, Andrew Wilcox, Rudy Sulmonte, Tyler Melancon, and Nick Egan, who each chipped in one.
Brad Phillips made 16 saves before being replaced by Jesse Kallechy, who took the win and made nine saves. Huntsville totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
