Huntsville Havoc News Release
MACON, GEORGIA - Saturday night's game at the Macon Centreplex was practically the polar opposite of the previous evening.
The night before, the teams tallied 20 penalties as the Huntsville Havoc (30-15-3) skated to a 5-2 win. While Huntsville once again played strong and held Macon to only two goals in the rematch, the Mayhem also kept the score low by allowing a single tally, taking the final regular season meeting 2-1.
It was also a much more disciplined game as the two clubs only committed five infractions between them.
"We played another good game on the road against a quality opponent," said Havoc Head Coach Glenn Detulleo. "They capitalized on a few of our mistakes and ultimately we just couldn't find the equalizer."
Both teams got off to a quick start in this one. Huntsville's Stephen Hrehoriak drew first blood, finding the back of the net just 16 seconds in to the game. The Mayhem (25-20-5) answered quickly, scoring their first goal 1:34 in to the contest. Both teams soon settled in for a defensive battle and the period ended tied at one.
Macon broke the tie at seven minutes in to the second period when Jake Trask recorded his second goal of the game. Despite an inspired attack from the Havoc the rest of the way, the Mayhem defense held strong and handed Huntsville their first regulation loss in a month.
Havoc goalkeeper Max Milosek saved 19 of 21 shots as Macon ended the netminder's winning-streak at 7.
Next Game
The Havoc continue their road series with a three-in-three next weekend. The start with a road trip to North Carolina to face the Fayetteville Marksmen on Friday, March 22, at 6 p.m. CT. The next night the team stops in Knoxville for a pair of games against a familiar foe. The Ice Bears host the Havoc on Saturday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m. CT, followed by a Sunday matinee on March 24 with a 2:30 p.m. CT puck drop.
The brutal stretch of games continues next Tuesday, March 26, as the Havoc are back home for the rest of the season. They host the Pensacola Ice Flyers for Taco Tuesday. Fans can enjoy $5 Margaritas and two tacos for $2. The puck drops at 7 p.m. on Pharmacy First Ice at the Von Braun Center.
