
Hassan Delivers the Goods for Pawtucket

With players like Will Middlebrooks, Daniel Nava and Mauro Gomez up in Boston, the PawSox relied on young Alex Hassan to power them past Columbus 5-4 on Mothers Day at McCoy. Hassan belted a game winning solo homer in the bottom of the eighth that provided the margin of victory. Hassan, 24, also had a single, double and a sacrifice fly that scored a run. Newcomer Scott Podsednik plated a pair of runs with a single and a sacrifice fly. Pedro Ciriaco extended his personal hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of hits. Che-Hsuan Lin added a pair of singles.
Alex Wilson (3-0) earned the win in relief of starter Ross Ohlendorf. Wilson threw one inning. Mark Melancon picked up the save, his fourth. Clayton Mortenson pitched two scoreless innings, as well.
The first place Pawsox (25-13) extend their North lead to 3 and a half games over idle Lehigh Valley. They'll shoot for a sixth straight win on Monday at 12:05 p.m. Justin Germano (4-1, 2.29) is on the hill for Pawtucket.
