HERE'S TO YOU, MOM: The Rochester Red Wings today play the 3rd game of their 4-game series at Syracuse (Nationals), continuing their 8-game road trip that started by losing 3 of 4 in Pawtucket (Red Sox). Following 2 more games in Mars City, the Wings return to Frontier Field Tuesday for an 8-game homestand that features Louisville (Reds) and Gwinnett (Braves).
a A pair of upcoming Red Wings games will be simulcast live on MLB Network to a national audience: tomorrow at Syracuse at 12:00 noon and May 22 vs. Gwinnett at 11:05 a.m.
a The Red Wings are nearing the end of a stretch of playing their first 37 games against International League North Division opponents. Rochester on Tuesday plays outside of its division for the first time. The Wings will play 40 consecutive games against interdivision foes through June 25 before returning to North Division competition at Lehigh Valley (Phillies) June 26-29.
BASEBALL MONTH IN ROCHESTER: The Red Wings and Monroe County have proclaimed May as "Baseball Month in Rochester." Frontier Field is hosting games on 25 of the 31 days in the month, as the Empire State Yankees use the downtown ballpark as a temporary home while PNC Field in Moosic, PA undergoes a season-long renovation. QUARTER POINT: The Red Wings today reach the quarter point of the season, playing their 36th game of the 144-game schedule. Rochester hasn't had a winning record at the quarter point since 2009, when it was 19-17. The Wings last year were 15-21 at that point of the season and 14-22 in 2010.
GET RID OF THE SKID: The Red Wings have lost 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6, a stretch that follows a season-high 4-game winning streak. The Wings have also lost 13 of their last 18 games, a stretch that began with a season-worst 8-game losing streak April 25-May 2. Rochester is 9-19 since starting the season 5-2.

The 11-0 setback was also Rochester's worst to Syracuse since a 16-5 trouncing August 17, 2009, when the Chiefs scored 12 times in the 9th at Frontier to erase a 5-4 deficit.
a Yesterday's 11-0 loss was Rochester's largest shut-out defeat since April 11, 2011, when Scranton/Wilkes-Barre handed the Wings an 11-0 loss at Frontier Field.
a The Red Wings have been shut out in a 9-inning game 3 times in 2012. They are one of 6 teams in the league with 3 or more 9-inning shut-out losses, joining Charlotte (3), Durham (5), Lehigh Valley (3), Empire State (3), and Syracuse (3).
