Hartford Fall on Road to Louisville
Published on April 27, 2024 under United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Hartford Athletic News Release
Consistently one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, Louisville City showed their might on Saturday night, taking down Hartford 6-0 at Lynn Family Stadium. This was the third time this season the Bourbon State boys have scored five or more goals at home.
Louisville wasted no time, jumping ahead in the fifth minute, on a strike from midfielder Elijah Wynder. Seven minutes later, forward Adrien Perez doubled the lead off of a strong assist by defender Jake Morris.
After a brief 20-minute scoring lull that saw Hartford gain possession more frequently, Louisville expanded their lead off of a beautiful curling shot by defender Aiden McFadden. Despite a missed chance by Hartford forward Mamadou Dieng on an open net, the halftime whistle blew with a score of 3-0.
The one-sided trend continued into the second half despite Hartford's best efforts. Louisville substitute Jorge Gonzalez scored his second goal of the season in the 68th minute. Louisville added two more goals in the final fifteen minutes to cruise to victory.
The Boys in Green will head out on the second leg of their two-game road trip next Saturday against defending Eastern Conference champion Charleston Battery at 6:30 PM. Fans can watch the game on MyTV9, ESPN+ or wtnh.com.
