Birmingham Legion FC News Release
Birmingham Legion FC defeated Miami FC after a hard-fought effort from the team on the road. Their game-winning goal came from Prosper Kasim in the 62nd minute.
Legion came into Saturday's match after a win against Miami FC, hoping to continue its good form. The derby rivalry between the teams ignited an intense battle but the Legion suffered a 0-3 loss at home.
First Half:
Memphis opened up the scoresheet with a goal from former Legion player Bruno Lapa in the 4th minute. A chance for Enzo Martinez was caught by Tyler Deric in the 5th minute. In the 15th minute, Stefano Pinho attempted to go for a goal, but his header would just miss the goal slightly to the right. Memphis doubled their lead in the 17th minute with a left-footed shot outside the box by Lucas Turci. Kasim would come close to scoring a goal in the 21st minute, but the ball would be saved before it could hit the net.
Legion would then go on to get more attempts on goal, but could not manage to get the ball in before halftime.
Second Half:
The first big chance of the half came from Memphis's Luiz Fernando in the 48th minute. Memphis would proceed to add a third goal from a left-footed shot by Lapa in the 54th minute. Legion's chance at a goal would come in the 66th minute from Tabort Etaka, but he would miss just shy of the goal. Pinho would then try for a goal in the 67th minute, but Deric would save his shot.
Kobe Hernandez-Foster would try to pull one back for Legion in the 82nd minute, but his left-footed shot would be blocked. Legion would be unlucky again in the 87th minute when Enzo Martinez's right-footed shot was saved.
After four minutes of stoppage time, the game ended with no further significant attempts on goal.
