LIKE A RAVEN IN THE NIGHT ...DORADOS LOSE THEIR "HART"

PRESTON HARTFIELD TO ATTEND FREE AGENT WORKOUT WITH NFL RAVENS

HIDALGO, TX: April 28, 2004 – Detroit Lions wide receiver and former Dallas Cowboy Reggie Swinton was once chasing the dream of playing in the NFL as a member of the arenafootball2's (af2) Arkansas Twisters. After his season with the Twisters, his dream became a reality as he joined the Dallas Cowboys. Rio Grande Valley Dorados WR/LB Preston Hartfield is looking to make those same dreams a reality, as he will be departing to accept an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens Free Agent Mini-Camp.

Hartfield, a 6'1" 210-pound af2 rookie has appeared in all three Dorados games this season. In the three games, Hartfield ranks third on the squad in receptions with 8 and totaled 92 yards off the 8 receptions including a co-leading 3 touchdowns. Hartfield ranks second on the club defensively with 10 tackles (5 solo, 10 assisted), has 2.5 tackles for losses of 14 yards, a 0.5 sack and an interception. He has already earned a couple accolades this season, earning the US Army Ironman of the Game in Week 1 against Laredo and the ADT Defensive Player of the Game last week against Oklahoma City.

The Alvord, Texas native recently turned pro last summer, signing as a free agent with the NFL's Washington Redskins after closing out his college career with Texas Tech University in the 2002 Tangerine Bowl with Clemson. In that bowl game, he had 4 receptions for 64 yards. At Texas Tech, Hartfield started out in the backfield before transitioning into an inside receiver and completing his senior year (2002) with 207 yards receiving on 21 receptions. The 23 year-old was a multi-sport star at Alvord High School. Outside of receiving All-District MVP honors in 1998, 1997 District Offensive Player of the Year and two Second Team All-District awards (1995,1996) for his efforts on the gridiron, Hartfield was also a four-time all-district selection in baseball and basketball. He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) in 1999 and helped lead the program to a NAIA National Championship before transferring to Texas Tech. The Dorados will be without Hartfield beginning this Saturday, as they face the Laredo Law. Hartfield will leave the Rio Grande Valley immediately to report with other free agents and draft picks Friday morning at the Ravens training facility in Owings Mills, Maryland to begin the two-day mini camp. He will seek to sign a contract with the Ravens just as he did a year ago with the Washington Redskins.

Rio Grande Valley returns to action Saturday in Laredo as they meet up with the Laredo Law for a second time this season. Saturday night's broadcast from Laredo can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 AM with Chris Due calling the action or by logging onto www.doradosfootball.com to catch the online broadcast.
