Mohegan Wolves News Release
NEW LONDON, C.T. (April 2nd, 2002)- On April 5th, when the expansion Mohegan Wolves take the field, it won't be the first time for everyone. For many of the Wolves players it will be a return to arena football. One of those players is Wolves Offensive/Defensive Lineman Randy Hart.
This season stands to be Randy's sixth of Arena football after five seasons in the af2's parent league, the Arena Football League. Randy spent time with three different AFL teams: Milwaukee Mustangs (1994-1998), Grand Rapids Rampage (1998), and the New England Sea Wolves (2000). Unlike most players in the af2, Randy has limited desire to move up to a higher level, he just wants to keep playing and winning. At the ripe old age of 31 Randy wants to make one more run at a championship.
"I just want to win. I made the decision to play again because I like Coach Porter and this gives me an opportunity to keep playing football at a competitive level," Hart added.
Hart became one of the inaugural group of four players signed by the Mohegan Wolves and was offered a contract before the coaching staff ever saw him set foot on a field. The 6'5, 330 pound veteran out of Auburn University is so imposing in person that Head Coach Gary Porter knew Randy was the man to become the foundation of this expansion franchise.
Head Coach Gary Porter had this to say about Randy:
"Randy's experience and leadership is invaluable. He is a step slower than he was in his prime, but still has the capability to be a dominant force for us. We are extremely fortunate to have a guy like Randy on our team."
Randy Hart's Career AFL Statistics:
Year Tackles Solo Asst. Sack
1994 (MIL) 4 1 3 0
1995 (MIL) 8 5 3 0
1996 (MIL) 21 16 5 0
1998 (MIL) 2 1 1 0
2000 (NE) 0 0 0 0
