(Rochester, NY)- Brigade Head Coach / General Manager Mark Saunders announced the team's 2002 final roster. The roster is in place for the season opener on Saturday, April 6, at the Blue Cross Arena against the New Haven Ninjas.
"This is an excellent group of athletes we have this year," stated Saunders. "I'm very pleased with how training camp went this season and I think we're on the right track to getting the job done this year."
The team returns six players from last season's squad including local Wide Receiver/Jack Larry Long and Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Aaron Fix, both of which have been with the team since the beginning of last season. Other players that are returning from last season's team include: Offensive Specialist Martino Theus, Wide Receiver/Jack Rodney Bush, Offensive line/Defensive Linemen Mark Tisdale, Ahmad Whitehead and Ray Smith.
Saunders commented on the returning players, "This is a great core of players to build a team around... they know what I expect from them and what it takes to be successful."
Newcomers to the team that should have an immediate impact in the league and the team include: Full Back/Line Back Anthony Cleary (Penn State), Quarterback Matt D'Orazio (Otterbein College) and Offensive/Defensive Lineman Antonio Dingle (University of Virginia).
"We have a very talented group of new guys this season that will step right in and be effective this season... everybody has gelled together during training camp and has a common goal in mind and that's winning," declared Saunders.
