Mohegan Wolves News Release

NEW LONDON, Conn. (August 15, 2003) – The Mohegan Wolves (arenafootball2) would like to extend a sincere thank you to all their loyal fans and sponsors who made their 2003 season one to remember.

With the help of a growing fan base and increased corporate support, the Wolves responded with a 10-win regular season and the team’s first playoff appearance in franchise history. Mohegan continued to shine in the postseason, scoring an exciting first round road victory (50-47) on Aug. 2 against the Atlantic Division Champion Cape Fear Wildcats.

First-year Head Coach Mark Stoute believes a big reason for the Wolves success this past season rested on their performance at the Mohegan Sun Arena, the team’s home turf. Stoute felt the home crowd had a lot to do with his team amassing an impressive 7-1 home record in 2003.

“Our fans were a big part of our success at home this year, no question about it,” Stoute commented. “They believed in us from the start and supported us every step of the way.

In contrast, Mohegan managed just one home win during the team’s inaugural 3-13 campaign in 2002.

On the business side, Wolves Vice President Angelo Mazzella highlighted the team’s expanding corporate relationships as another reason for appreciation this year.

“I think the partnerships we developed with sponsors this past year were very positive for all involved,” Mazzella said. “I’m looking forward to building upon on those relationships in the years to come.

With a positive outlook and good will rising by the minute, the 2004 season can’t come fast enough for these Wolves.

Want to be part of the action again next year? Don’t miss the Mohegan Wolves special 2004 season ticket offer, available now.
