Today's Game... The Senators open a three-game series at Waterfront Park in Trenton tonight. It's the only time this season the Sens will make a trip to Trenton. The two teams have played one series In Harrisburg, in early April, with the Senators having swept Trenton. Trenton got off to a rough start, with records of 0-10, 3-14, and 10-20, but since being 10-20 they are 35-18 and one of the hottest teams in the league. In tonight's game one of the series, RHP Beltran Perez is on the mound for the Senators against RHP Tyler Clippard for the Thunder.

Last Time Out... The Senators came from behind on Monday night and beat the Bowie Baysox 9-5 at Commerce Bank Park. It was the only win in the series for the Senators and snapped a four-game losing streak. In what has been a tough week of travel, games being moved due to flooding conditions, and close losses, the Senators bats finally came to life in the sixth inning on Monday and exploded for their nine runs over the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings. Alex Escobar had a three-run home run in the five run sixth inning and Dan DeMent slugged a two-run home run to cap the scoring in the eighth inning.

Josh Whitesell continues to tear the cover off the ball as he went 2 x 4 and had an RBI. Kory Casto broke out of his mini slump with three hits and Tim Raines Jr. chipped in two hits as well.

Scouting the Thunder... Trenton is sending five players to the 2006 Eastern League All-Star game. They are RHP Justin Pope, LHP Charlie Manning, INF Gabe Lopez, OF Bronson Sardinha and the number #1 prospect in the Yankees organization, RHP Phil Hughes. Hughes has also been selected to participate in the Future's Game on Sunday in Pittsburgh as a member of the U.S. team. Trenton has two players on the Yankees 40-man roster and they are RHP Jeff Karstens and RHP Phil Hughes...

The Thunder are coming off a successful four-game series at Portland in which they took three out of four and scored 45 runs in the four games. The only game they lost to Portland was a 14 inning, 14-13 game in which INF J.T. Stotts pitched the final inning... Since June 10 they have won 16 out of 23 games.

League Leaders... Kory Casto is sixth in the league in batting (.295), tied for fourth in home runs (13), tied for second in the league in RBIs (57), first in the league in on-base percentage (.414), and second in the league in runs scored (52)... Melvin Dorta is fourth in the league in stolen bases (21)... Josh Whitesell is tied for fourth in home runs (13). As a team the Senators are second in the league in home runs with 65 and tied for the league lead in saves with 31.

All-Stars... The Senators have four players named to the Southern Division All-Star squad.. RHP Kip Bouknight, INF/OF Kory Casto, INF/OF Melvin Dorta and C Salomon Manriquez were all named to the Southern Division All-Star team. The 2006 Eastern League All-Star game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 in Altoona.

Harrisburg vs. Trenton... The Senators and Trenton Thunder play a total of nine times this season. The Senators won the first three games in the season series. The teams will play three more times in August at Commerce Bank Park.
