Harrisburg Heat Add 5 More Players to Roster

HARRISBURG, PA, Oct. 22, 2013 - Midfielder David Schofield was among five players to agree to terms with the Harrisburg Heat for the upcoming Professional Arena Soccer League season, the team announced today.

Also agreeing to terms were goalkeeper Justin Johnson and field players Danny Thompson, Connor Malone and Kevin Wolfe.

Terms of the deals were not announced. The Heat now have 15 players under contract before starting training camp tonight at Sports City Harrisburg.

Schofield, 32, of Preston, England, was the Heat's third-leading scorer last season with 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists.

Johnson, 28, of Harrisburg, was a backup last season to primary keeper Dave Kern, going 0-2 in two starts for the Heat with an 11.50 goals-against average.

Thompson, 24, played for Messiah College's NCAA championship teams before joining the Charlotte Eagles of the outdoor USL Pro League.

Malone, 25, like Johnson, played scholastically at Central Dauphin High and went on to a distinguished career as a defender at the University of Pittsburgh.

Wolfe, 23, played four seasons at Lock Haven University after starring at Manheim Township High School.

Thursday, Oct. 24: Second day of training camp, Sports City, 9-11 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 26: Second annual Red & Black intrasquad game, Sports City, 7:05 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 2: Preseason game against the New Jersey Dynamo, Sports City, 7:05 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 9: PASL season opener at Detroit, 7:05 p.m.

Sunday, Nov .10: PASL road game at Cleveland, 3:05 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 16: Home opener vs. Detroit, Equine Arena, State Farm Show, 7:05 p.m.

FREE TICKETS: The Red & Black intrasquad game on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Sports City Harrisburg is free to the public. First-come, first-serve seats are limited to 400. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Season ticket holders may enter at 5:30 p.m. for a special pregame presentation.
