Harris Named NBA Development League Player Of The Month

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA Development League announced today that Rio Grande Valley Vipers forward Mike Harris (6-6, 235, Rice) is the Player of the Month for games played in January 2010.

The Vipers went 11-3 in January and 9-2 after Harris returned from a GATORADE Call-Up with the Houston Rockets on January 9, during which time he averaged 27.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 59.5% (116-for-195) from the field.

Harris recorded nine double-double during the month, including 48 points and 24 rebounds at Dakota on January 17. The 48 points were a career-high, a single-game high in the NBA Development League this season, and the second highest total in franchise history. The 24 rebounds were a career-high, tied the single-game high in the NBA Development League this season and tied the franchise record as well. Harris picked up a career-high four steals at Dakota on January 19 and matched the feat on January 28 against Sioux Falls.

Harris, who is second in the league in scoring at 26.7 points, fourth in rebounding at 9.6 per game and fourth in field goal percentage (.585), also earned NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played from January 11-through-17.

Harris is the fifth Viper to ever earn the honor. Antonio Anderson earned the honor last month, Jawad Williams, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, earned the honor for March 2009, Desmon Farmer earned the honor for February 2008 and C.J. Watson, now with the Golden State Warriors, earned the honor for December 2007.
