Erie Otters News Release

NHL Central Scouting today released the midterm rankings for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Erie Otters forwards Stephen Harper and Nick Betz were among the players who placed in the midterm rankings.

Harper, who will play in Wednesday's CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Halifax, was ranked 38th among North American skaters. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Harper has 10 goals and 14 assists in 42 games this season. The Burlington, Ont. resident scored 24 goals last season, which was tops among 1995-born players in the OHL.

Betz, a right wing from Clinton Township, Mich., placed 106th among North American skaters. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Betz has two goals and four assists in 19 games this season. He returned to the Otters lineup in late-December following a bout with appendicitis, which kept him off the ice for nearly two months.

There were 56 Ontario Hockey League players ranked by NHL Central Scouting. Leading the way from the OHL was Ottawa 67's forward Sean Monahan, who was slotted fourth among North American skaters. Defenseman Seth Jones from the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks was in the top spot for North American skaters.

Next up for the Otters is a road game against the Sarnia Sting Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan.
