WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee AppleSox (8-13), were swept by the Victoria HarbourCats (17-3), in a 7-6 loss Wednesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

Wenatchee struck first, Wednesday with two runs in the first inning. Michael Toglia knocked in a runner with an RBI single, following Evan Douglas scoring in the inning on a wild pitch.

With a 2-0 lead in the second, Justin Blatner ran into a bit of trouble. AJ Alcantara, a former AppleSox outfielder, hit a leadoff solo home run in the second inning, to cut the AppleSox lead to 2-1. Ryan Anderson doubled and came to score on a Blatner error later in the inning. Tommy Jew drove in a third runner for a HarbourCat lead.

Wenatchee jumped on 'Cat starter Kyle Mora in the third inning for two runs on a Michael Toglia two-run home run. Ryan Kreidler scored, who was aboard on a walk earlier in the frame.

Wenatchee cut the deficit to one run with the home run, after Ryan Anderson scored a runner on a sacrifice fly to center field, and Brad Plushkell brought home a runner on an RBI double.

The score held until the sixth inning, when Wenatchee added another run off of Casey Costello. Haydan Hastings scored on an error by Jew, to tie the game at five.

Victoria promptly responded with two runs in the seventh inning on a two-RBI single for Alcantara.

Wenatchee tried to chip away late, scoring Otis Statum on an RBI single in the eighth inning for Shane Martinez, but with a tying run aboard in the ninth, the AppleSox' tying run was caugh stealing to end the game.

With the win, Victoria won a 17th-straight game and swept a third-straight series over Wenatchee. The AppleSox continue WCL First Half play at Cowlitz, Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
