HarbourCats Sign Two Local Players
May 26, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Victoria HabourCats News Release
VICTORIA, B.C. - They were players who had a shot to impress last year, and they'll get another opportunity to make the hometown West Coast League squad this season.
Right-handed pitcher Riley Edmonds, a product of the Victoria Eagles program, just completed his first year at Otero JC - a school that has two more Victoria players on the roster in Brandon Feldman and Brett Hull. Edmonds earned a lot of mound time and compiled a 2-0 record with a 2.49 ERA, along with two saves. He surrendered 18 hits in 21.2 innings pitched, striking out 23 and walking four.
Edmonds made two appearances late last season for the HarbourCats, including a start. In 9.1 innings, he gave up five hits and struck out two batters, walking four, with a 3.85 ERA. He is a 6-0/170 product of the Lambrick Baseball Academy.
Outfielder Matt Bryan is a right-hand hitting outfielder who completed his junior season at McPherson College in Kansas, the same school as recently-signed catcher Evan Willow. Bryan, 5-11/185, was released early into the 2014 season by the HarbourCats, after finishing the 2014 season at Treasure Valley College. Bryan is coming off a hand injury, but hit .266 with three home runs and 23 RBIs last season for McPherson, adding five doubles and stealing nine bases.
Both players will be in uniform for exhibition games May 31 (vs. Langley Sr. Blaze, defending Canadian Champions), and June 2-3 (vs. North Sound Emeralds), both are 6:35pm starts at SPORTS TRADERS DIAMOND at RAP.
