SYRACUSE, NY -- Alen Hanson doubled, homered, and scored twice to help lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 6-4 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs on Friday night. The prized prospect belted his second home run of the season in the fifth to erase a one-run deficit, and he doubled home another run in the bottom of the seventh.

Hanson has now produced a multi-hit effort in five straight contests, and seven of his last 10 games. The at-bat following his home run, the Chiefs elected to turn the switch hitter around and bat right-handed, but it was no help as he smashed his double down the third-base line.

The Syracuse (16-25) bullpen allowed an inherited runner to cross and conceded two further runs. Elias Diaz drove home a run in a pinch-hit role, while Tony Sanchez plated Deibinson Romero for the game's final run in the top of the ninth.

Friday night's win was the opening game of a six-game road trip for the Indians. Indianapolis (24-18) received a great start from Chris Volstad (2-1), as he went six innings and struck out five while conceding two runs.
