Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce quarterback Henry Burris is this year's recipient of the Presidents' Ring.
Burris will be available to the media today at 2 p.m. in the Stamps' administration office at McMahon Stadium.
The Presidents' Ring has been presented annually since 1967 to the Stampeders player who best demonstrates excellence on and off the field. Burris' teammates selected him based on his in-game contributions, leadership, inspiration and motivational skills. He will formally receive the award at a luncheon in May.
This is the second year in a row Burris has won the Presidents' Ring. He is the 27th player to win the award and just the fourth to win back-to-back (Danny Barrett, Alondra Johnson and Jay McNeil were the others).
Burris led the Stamps to a Grey Cup victory this past season and he was the most valuable player of the championship game.
He also was the West Division nominee as the Canadian Football League's most outstanding player after he helped guide Calgary to a 13-5 regular-season record. He established career highs in passing yards (5,094), touchdown passes (39), completion percentage (64.5) and quarterback rating (103.8) while leading a young team to the title.
