Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC announce the trial period for German Soccer player, Dominik Behr, connecting the Hammerheads and MSV Duisburg through owner George Altirs.
Mr. Altirs' growing interest in clubs throughout in the United States and Europe include New Jersey Cedar Stars and its academy (NJSA), the Wilmington Hammerheads who is affiliated with the New York City FC, and his recent partnership as a shareholder with MSV Duisburg of the Bundesliga league.
MSV Duisburg is one of the original 16 teams in the Bundesliga league. Since the Bundesliga league began in 1963, Duisburg has been in all three tiers of German soccer; Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, and 3 Liga.
Behr, 20, joined the club in 2013 playing as a center midfielder for the U-19 MSV Duisburg team. As a captain of the U-19 team he clocked 1,452 minutes and scored in 20 out of the 38 regular season games. During his 2014-2015 season for the U-19 team, Behr clocked 1,636 minutes. A versatile player, he primarily played center mid, but he also dominated as an attacking midfielder and right defender. Beh is currently playing for the MSV Duisburg U-23 team and has had some playing time with the first team already.
During the trial period, the Hammerheads will evaluate Behr's performance on and off the field. General Manager, Jason Arnold, stated, "This is a unique situation for the Hammerheads, MSV Duisburg, and of course Dominik. George's relationship with both teams creates a great opportunity for players to train and further develop their skills. It is a common opportunity within the soccer world, but George's connection between these two clubs combines diverse cultures and styles of play. "
The Hammerheads welcome Behr to the Port City and look forward to working with him over the next 14 days.
