Match Preview: Sacramento Republic FC vs Seattle Sounders FC 2

Sacramento Republic FC (3-3-1, 10 pts) return home to take on Seattle Sounders FC 2 (1-4-3, 6 pts) on Saturday, May 14 in the first of four straight home USL matches. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. PDT at Bonney Field. Gates open at 6 p.m. The match is presented by UC Davis Children's Hospital.

This will be the fifth overall meeting between Republic FC and Seattle Sounders FC 2. Republic FC holds the advantage in the series compiling a 3-1-0 record against S2, including a 1-0 win in the first match of the USL season for both clubs on Mar. 25.

Republic FC enter the match after defeating LA Galaxy II 2-0 on Saturday, May 7. Defender Emrah Klimenta and forward Harry Williams both scored in the win, keeping Republic FC undefeated all-time at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

Williams scored his first regular season goal as a member of Republic FC, after joining the club in the offseason. Williams has appeared in just two matches this season, but has recorded five shots on goal, which is tied for the club lead.

Klimenta scored his first goal of the season with his 16th minute free kick goal against Los Dos. Klimenta has now scored at least one goal in each of the last three seasons and moved into a tie for fifth all-time in goals scored in club history.

S2 come into the match after falling 1-2 to Tulsa Roughnecks FC on May 8. Prior to the loss S2 had gone unbeaten in four straight matches. This will be just the second road match for S2 this season who played Real Monarchs SLC to a scoreless draw in their only other road match of 2016 on Apr. 26.

Forwards Victor Mansaray and Myron Samuel have led the young S2 offense so far this season. Mansaray leads S2 with two goals on the season, while Samuel leads the club with two assists. Mansaray is a Sounders FC Homegrown Player who has appeared in three MLS matches since signing with the club in 2015. However, the 19-year-old has feature primarily on loan with S2

Samuel is one of just three returning S2 players who signed USL contracts. Samuel scored two goals and recorded an assist before breaking his foot in his only appearance last season against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Aug. 19, 2015.

Republic FC will host eight-year United States Women's National Team captain (2008-2015), two-time Women's World Cup winner and three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Christie Rampone at Saturday's match. Rampone will be participating in a variety of activities including a private soccer clinic for underserved youth and a pre-match 'chalk talk' presented by Wells Fargo. The prematch 'chalk talk' is open to the public and begins at 6:15 p.m. in the north endline bleachers.
