
Hamilton Blanks Texas 3-0, Claims 3-2 Series Lead

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (10-6) were defeated by the Hamilton Bulldogs (11-6) 3-0 on Saturday night in front of 5,020 fans at Cedar Park Center in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. Bulldogs goaltender Curtis Sanford stopped all 23 Texas shots, lifting Hamilton to a 3-2 series lead over the Stars. Hamilton center David Desharnais scored a goal and added an assist as Hamilton claimed its fourth road win in the postseason. Texas goalie Matt Climie (3-3) made 30 saves in the defeat. Game 6 will be in Hamilton on Monday, May 24th at 6:30 PM (CT).
With 6:38 remaining in the first period, the Bulldogs opened the scoring with a power-play goal. Defenseman Shawn Belle fired a shot that bounced off of a Stars defender and Ryan Russell picked up the rebound, and sending a shot past Texas goalie Matt Climie for the 1-0 lead. David Desharnais also tallied an assist on Russell's seventh goal of the playoffs.
At 3:37 of the second period, the Bulldogs increased their lead to 2-0 when winger Mike Glumac found a rebound in the slot and fired a shot past Climie. Forward Grant Stevenson and defenseman Alex Henry notched assists on Glumac's team-leading 11th tally of the postseason. At 15:33 of the middle frame, Hamilton extended its lead to 3-0 after Desharnais carried the puck from the right-wing circle to the slot and sent a wristshot past Climie on the gloveside. Belle assisted Desharnais' ninth goal of the playoffs.
