Bulldogs Lose 2-1 In Overtime To Stars In Game

Austin, TX - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Texas Stars 2-1 in overtime on Friday night in Texas for the second straight game. Both teams are now tied 2-2 in the series. Jamie Benn recorded both goals in the victory for the Stars.

After a scoreless first period, the ‘Dogs opened the game's scoring at 8:56 of the second period with a power-play goal. Ryan Russell received the puck from Brock Trotter before sending a pass to David Desharnais, who was at the right side of the net. Desharnais drove to the front of the net before stuffing the puck underneath the pads of Texas starting goaltender Matt Climie.

The Stars tied the game 24 seconds into the final frame. Colton Sceviour blasted a shot from the point that bounced off the leg of a Hamilton defender and onto the stick of Benn. Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford was out of position due the deflection which allowed Benn to snap a shot past the goaltender.

For the second straight game the teams went to overtime to decide a winner. Mathieu Beaudoin received the puck from Warren Peters before firing a shot on net that was stopped by Sanford. The rebound bounced onto the stick of Benn, who was positioned at the right side of the net. Benn snapped a shot into the net to win the game.

The Bulldogs will meet the Stars in Texas for Game 5 on Saturday, May 22nd at 8:00 p.m. EST.
