
Haerther leads 'Birds by Express

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis scored three runs in the first inning and earned a series split with Round Rock thanks to a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Cody Haerther drove in three runs in the game, including a two-run single in the first inning. He padded the Redbirds lead in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring double. Jaime Garcia earned the win for the home team with 6.2 strong innings. The lefty allowed one run on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Ron Flores picked up his third save despite allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning.
Round Rock starter Chad Reineke took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits and five walks in five innings of work. J.R. Towles led the Express with three hits and finished the day a triple shy of the cycle.
Memphis welcomes Iowa to town for the first time this season tomorrow night. Iowa is scheduled to start left-hander Sean Marshall with Memphis yet to determine a starter. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
