Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the re-signing of infielder Casey Haerther for the 2015 season.

Haerther, 27, had his contract purchased by the Baltimore Orioles earlier this off-season, but was released during spring training. In 98 games with the Goldeyes last season, he hit .360 with 13 home runs and 72 RBI. His batting average was tied with teammate Tyler Kuhn for the second-best in the American Association. Haerther represented the Goldeyes in the 2014 American Association All-Star Game and was selected to the AA's post-season all-star team as the first baseman.

"He's worked hard over the last couple of the seasons making himself a better baseball player and he certainly had a great season last year for us," Forney said. "He was deserving of the opportunity of going to spring training with the Orioles and we felt confident he was going to make one of their minor league teams. We're disappointed it didn't work out for him, but anytime you have a chance to add a player like Casey Haerther, you have to bring him back."

In two seasons with the Goldeyes, Haerther has batted .334 with 23 home runs and 138 RBI in 195 games.

Haerther was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the fifth round of the 2009 MLB Amateur draft and played four seasons in their system before joining the Goldeyes.

The Goldeyes now have 26 players signed for the 2015 season, including 13 pitchers and 13 position players.

Season tickets and 9-Game Mini Packs for the 2015 season are now on sale. Fans can visit Goldeyes.com or call 982-BASE (2273) for more information.
