
Haaskivi Relieved of Duties With Riverhounds

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh RIVERHOUNDS® president and CEO Paul A. Heasley has relieved Kai Haaskivi of his duties as head coach and general manager effective immediately.
Assistant Coach Tim Carter will serve as the interim head coach through the remainder of the 2002 season while maintaining his responsibilities as director of youth development.
Haaskivi joined the RIVERHOUNDS® in February 2001 as the franchise's second head coach and general manager. He replaced John Kowalski, whose coaching contract was not renewed, and Dave Kasper, who left his general manager position with the RIVERHOUNDS® to join the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. In a season and a half with the RIVERHOUNDS®, Haaskivi led the team to the quarterfinals of the A-League playoffs and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2001. His overall record as head coach is 22-25-8.
