
Gwinnett's Jakaitis Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Jakaitis of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 26-Jan.1. It is the second time this season and the fourth time in his ECHL career that he has won the weekly award.
The 28-year-old was 2-1-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 0.67 and a save percentage of .971 in three appearances last week.
Jakaitis made 21 saves in a 4-0 win over South Carolina on Monday and stopped all 27 shots in a 3-0 victory against the Stingrays on Wednesday for his third consecutive shutout, tying the ECHL record. He made 19 saves in a 3-1 loss against Florida on Friday, bringing his shutout streak to an end at 215:31, 20 shy of the league record.
A native of Rochester, Minn., Jakaitis is 10-4-0 this season and leads the ECHL with four shutouts, a 1.66 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage. His four shutouts are tied for the Gwinnett club record, set by Michael Garnett in 2003-04.
Under contract to Rochester of the American Hockey League, Jakaitis is 45-34-14 with 11 shutouts, a 2.63 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 98 career ECHL games with Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia. He has also has appeared in 10 career AHL games with Portland and Worcester going 5-3-1 with a 3.27 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901.
Runners Up: Adam Courchaine, Alaska (3-0-0, 1.30 GAA, .935 save pct.) and Brian Stewart, Elmira (3-0-0, 1.90 GAA, .944 save pct.).
