The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Indianapolis Indians 6-5 at Victory Field on Monday night. Tim Gustafson pitched 5.0 innings earning the win over the Tribe. Gwinnett (20-24) remains in second place in the International League South, trailing division leader Durham by five games. Indianapolis (22-23) remains in third place in the West.

It Was Over When: Down 6-3 going into the ninth, the Indians rallied for two runs to make the score 6-5 in favor of Gwinnett. With one out and two men on in the ninth inning, Erik Kratz hit into a double play to end the game and secure the win for the G-Braves.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Gustafson went 5.0 IP, allowing 3 R/ER while posting 3 K's and 6 BB. Helping his cause on the mound, Gustafson homered to lead off the sixth inning. Mariano Gomez relieved Gustafson, throwing a scoreless two innings and finishing with 0 R/ER, K, BB. Following an appearance by Mike Dunn (1.0 IP, 2 K's, R), Stephen Marek (1.0 IP, R, BB) came in for the ninth inning and earned his second save of the season.

At the plate: In addition to Gustafson (2-for-3), Mitch Jones also belted a home run with two men on in the third. Matt Young went 2-for-4 with an RBI, double and one run scored. Jordan Schafer led off the game with a triple and finished the night 2-for-4.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: Michael Crotta went 5.0 IP, yielding 5 R/ER while striking out four and walking two for Indianapolis. Relievers Justin Thomas, Vinnie Chulk and Anthony Claggett combined for 4.0 IP and 1 R/ER (Thomas).

At the plate: Jose Tabata was 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored. Pedro Alvarez was 1-for-4 with 3 RBI.

On Deck: Gwinnett plays Indianapolis in the final game of the series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Victory Field. RHP Chris Resop (4-1, 2.03 ERA) will take the mound for the G-Braves. The Indians have yet to announce Tuesday's starter.
