Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, earned a 6-3 win over the Toledo Mud Hens in front of 13,288 Monday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. It was the second biggest crowd in the stadium's history.

Pete Orr got the Syracuse offense going with a solo home run off the right field foul pole to begin the bottom of the first inning. It was Orr's team-leading sixth home run of the year and his third long ball of the series.

The Mud Hens (25-20) came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the third. Deik Scram, who tripled to start the inning, came home from third on a passed ball.

The Chiefs (27-16) did most of their damage in the sixth inning. A fielding error by Will Rhymes and a base hit to left by Josh Whitesell put runners on the corners with one-out for Syracuse. The next batter, Chase Lambin, slammed a L.J. Gagnier fastball to right. The ball bounced over the right field wall for a ground rule double, allowing Luis Ordaz to come home on the play. Second baseman Eric Bruntlett extended the inning by poking a two-out single to left, scoring Lambin from third to give the Chiefs a 5-2 advantage. The Chiefs sent nine batters to the plate in the inning.

The Mud Hens got to Chiefs reliever Jason Bergmann for a run in the seventh, narrowing the deficit to 6-3. The run came on Will Rhymes' sac fly to outfielder Pete Orr. Brent Dlugach scored on the play. Ryan Strieby had a chance with the bases loaded and two outs but he flied out to center to end the inning.

In his fourth start for Syracuse, Stephen Strasburg allowed two runs in five innings. He threw 52 pitches and recorded five strikeouts. The two runs, one earned, were the first runs Strasburg has given up in his stint with the Chiefs.

Bergmann got his second win of the season for Syracuse. He gave up three hits and an unearned run in his two innings of work. Syracuse closer Joel Peralta pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth for his 13th save.

Syracuse and Toledo conclude their four-game set Tuesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. Matt Chico (1-0, 6.00) will pitch for the Chiefs against Mud Hens right-hander Max Scherzer (1-0, 0.00). First pitch will be at 7 p.m.
