Huntsville Havoc News Release
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Huntsville Havoc head coach Glenn Detulleo announced today that forward Mike Gurtler will return for his second season with the Havoc and the team has also signed center Brandon Perry.
Gurtler (6-2, 200) was acquired in a trade with the Fayetteville FireAntz late in the 2012-13 season. He played in 12 games with the Havoc and scored three goals and recorded six assists. He scored four goals and added three assists in eight playoff games. He had put up 15 goals and 10 assists in 44 games before joining the Havoc. He has now played in 82 career games and scored 20 goals and added 21 assists.
"We're looking forward to seeing Mike in training camp this year," Detulleo said. "He was a great addition to our team late in the season and played an important role in our playoff run. With his mix of size and skill we feel he can raise his game to another level."
Perry (5-11, 165) played at Queen's University from 2008-2013. He scored eight goals and recorded 13 assists in 101 games. He played in 112 games for the Kingston Voyageurs of the OPJHL from 2004-2008. He scored 23 goals and added 59 assists.
"We're excited to have Brandon attend his first pro training camp with us," Detulleo said. "We're looking at him to fill an important role at center. His gritty two-way play should be an excellent fit with the type of team are building."
The Havoc will begin their 10th season of play at Fayetteville on October 25. The home opener is set for November 8 against new member Peoria.
