Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Reno Silver Sox seemed to be having a case of deja vu as they played the Los Angeles Armada tonight, August 5, losing 11 - 9.

The Silver Sox started off scoring in the first inning when DH Juan Senreiso hit a sacrifice fly to right allowing CF Victor Hall to score from third. Then in the second inning, the Silver Sox added another run when 1B Adam Amar, appearing in his third game, hit his first homerun.

The Armada would answer back though scoring five over the fourth and fifth innings off of Silver Sox starter Nick Moran. However, the Silver Sox weren't done and added five runs in the bottom of the fifth to give the Silver Sox the lead 7 - 5.

Moran finished the night pitching six innings, allowing six runs, all earned, and striking five Armada batters.

Once again, Manager Les Lancaster put his faith into his bullpen hoping they could hold the Armada and get the win. In to relieve Moran was Shawn Balteff, who came into the game with a 7 - 6 lead. Balteff loaded the bases against the first three batters he faced, allowing two singles and a walk.

Then it seemed like Balteff and C Jose Rodriguez had some miscommunication as two passed balls by Rodriguez allowed two runners to score and then a wild pitch by Balteff allowed the last runner to score.

With the score now 9 - 7 in favor of the Armada, the Silver Sox cut the lead to one in the bottom of the seventh when Amar was able to score from second on a single by SS Sam Walker.

Josh Evans was then sent in to relieve Balteff. Evans gave up a single to the first batter he faced, however he then gave up a homerun to Armada 2B Jorge Arazia, his third of the night.

Now 11 - 8, the Silver would need a low of offense to try and get this game back into their control. The Silver Sox were able to score one run in the eighth when Rodriguez hit into a fielder's choice allowing Hall to score.

However, that would be all the scoring from either team as Eric Thomas shut down the Armada in the ninth, striking out two Armada batters and David DeLaRosa shutting down the Silver Sox. The final score 11 - 9 Armada.

The Silver Sox host the Armada for the final game of this four game series tomorrow night, August 6, at 7:00 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. To purchase your tickets for this, or any other Silver Sox game, visit the Silver Sox ticket booth before the game.
