New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH - Despite No. 3 prospect Jordan Groshans' second homer of the season, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) took an 11-4 loss to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NY Mets) on Friday night at Delta Dental Stadium.

Groshans belted a 3-0 pitch over the left center field fence in the bottom of the seventh inning, which cut a two-run deficit to one, but Binghamton rumbled back with six runs in the top of the eighth to put the game away at 11-4.

The Fisher Cats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Austin Martin walked, moved to third on a single by Otto Lopez, and scored on a single by LJ Talley. Binghamton tied the game in the top of the third inning. Jake Mangum doubled, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored on a balk to make it 1-1.

New Hampshire broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Samad Taylor singled, advanced to second on a groundout, and scored on a base hit by Reggie Pruitt.

The Rumble Ponies moved in front for the first time in the top of the fifth inning, chasing Fisher Cats starter Zach Logue (L, 3-1) from the game. A single by Carlos Cortes, a walk to Jake Mangum, and single by Nick Meyer tied the game. Two batters later, Dan Rizzie drilled a single back up the middle to make it 3-2. Binghamton scored two more runs in the top of the sixth inning thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles by Cortes and Mangum to take a 5-2 lead.

The Fisher Cats and Rumble Ponies continue the series on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. at Delta Dental Stadium. An Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game, presented by AutoFair. All games this season will be broadcast live on the Fisher Cats flagship station, AM 610 WGIR. For media requests, please email Tyler Murray at tmurray@nhfishercats.com.
