Grogan Honored Again

February 16, 2009 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Bismarck Bobcats News Release

The Bismarck Bobcats (30-13-1, 61 points) beat the Alexandria Blizzard (22-17-4, 48 points) Saturday night 2-1 in a shootout. The win for the Bobcats makes it 30 on the season, which was the same amount when the team last won the Bourne Cup in 2004. However, the Bobcats now play for the Robertson Cup and are currently four points ahead of North Iowa in the Central Division's top spot.

Bobcats' goalie Matt Grogan played another solid game making 38 saves and stopping all three shootout shots from Alexandria on Saturday night's win. Grogan for the second week in a row was named the "Goalie of the Week" in the North American Hockey League.

Grogan, in two games last week (Thursday and Saturday), made a total of 78 saves on 80 shots. In the past four games, he has allowed only five goals and has a save percentage of .969 playing against two of the top offenses in the division (Owatonna and Alexandria).

"Matt could be the best non-committed college goalie in junior hockey," said Bobcats head coach Byron Pool. "Whoever decides to take a risk on this young man is going to be rewarded with one heck of a player."

The Bobcats are 8-2 against the Blizzard this season and play Alexandria another four times, including this Saturday and Sunday in the Alexandria.

The Bobcats will visit the Alexandria Blizzard on Saturday (7:00pm) and Sunday (5:00pm) night. You can listen to the games on Super Talk 1270 AM with the "Voice of the Bobcats," Skip Berry beginning 30 minutes before the puck drops for "The Dvorak Motors Pre-Game Show." Also, watch every game online through the B2 Networks.
