Wyandotte, Mich. It was a back and forth battle Saturday night at Yack Arena.

But it was again the Motor City Machine that came out on top, knocking off Traverse City, 2-1, sweeping the 2-game series with the North Stars.

"This is a good sweep for us," Machine head coach Sean Clark said. "It's a good building block."

Andrew Tate got things started for the Machine, giving his team a 1-0 lead at 9:46 of the first period. Kevin Bechard assisted.

Motor City held the lead until 4:12 of the third period when Dan Radke tied the game for Traverse City.

But the game was not destined to be tied for long, as defenseman Trevor John stepped into the play, took a pass from Jared Williams and rifled the puck past Traverse City goaltender CJ Motte. Bechard picked up his second assist of the night on the goal.

"I saw (John) out of the corner of my eye and I knew the puck was going to him," Clark said. "I knew he was going to finish."

The two teams would once again battle, but the Machine's defense and goaltender Joe Moore held firm, helping the Machine to a sweep of the North Stars.

Moore made 16 saves for the Machine, who face off with Team USA tomorrow at 5:10 p.m.
