Metal Jackets host Warriors during Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend

The Motor City Metal Jackets hosted the Michigan Warriors from Flint, MI on Friday October 22 and 23rd and it was Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend at Kennedy Ice Arena.

On Friday night the game overall was very close from the beginning to end in front of 601 fans. Both teams battled on all sides of the puck but the Warriors came out on top 3-1. The Warriors scored in the 1st period by Justin Hoomaian unassisted. The second period was up and down the ice and hard fought by both teams with no scoring. Then in the 3rd period Tyler Perpich and Zekerie Thomspson both scored within 4 minutes of each other. The Metal Jackets got on the board with a goal from Cody Wydo assisted by Brancheau and Coles. Overall the Metal Jackets played well but just could not bury the puck.

On Saturday night the Warriors came to play with scoring first 3 goals of the game within 10 minutes of the start. The Cody Wydo assisted by Brancheau started the Metal Jacket off the scoring. Five minutes later Scott Henegar netted a goal for the Warriors. After one period of play it was Warrior 4 Metal Jackets 1. Period 2 the Metal Jackets came out to play with netting 2 goals one from Klieman and one from Balent and then the Warrior netted one to make the score 5-3 Warriors. Period 3 was packed full of excitement. Michigan Warriors made it 6-3 but the Metal Jackets were not done and netted 2 goals late in the period (Monfredo, Klieman) to cut the deficit to 6-5 and had the pressure on the Warriors until Henegar ice the puck right in the net to end the game 7-5.

Overall the weekend was a success for the Warriors by gaining 4 points in the standings. The next game for the Metal Jackets is Sunday October 24 at 4PM against Port Huron.
