
Grizzlies Take Win Streak to Six Games

The Gateway Grizzlies used three home runs and another big inning to take down the Cook County Cheetahs for their six consecutive victory.
The Grizzlies are now 6-2 on the season and at least tied for first in the Frontier League West Division. The Cheetahs are 2-5 on the year. The Grizzlies got a solo home run from Horace Lawrence, his first as a professional and a sacrifice fly by Kevin Lucas in the fourth to knot the score at 3. Cook County got a run in the top of the fifth and went up 4-3, before the Grizzlies went up for good. Tony Coyne led off the fifth with a single, then Ben Piatt lanunched his first home run of the season to make it 5-3. Phil Warren then singled, Eric Servais singled, Chris Klosterman walked and Joe Bolstad launched a shot over the left field wall for a grand slam that made it 9-5. The Grizzlies added a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Lawrence to go up 10-5. The Cheetahs added two in the ninth for the 10-7 score. Bolstad was two-for-four with the grand slam and the four RBIs. Lawrence was two-for-five with the home run and two RBIs. Ben Piatt was two-for-five with two RBIs. Klosterman and Kevin Lucas each had a hit and an RBI. Nick Plancich got the win in relief going 3 1/3 innings allowing a run on three hits, he goes to 1-0. Layne Meyer started and went 4 2/3 innings giving up four runs. The Grizzlies and Cheetahs will finish out the series with a 7:05 game MOnday night at GMC Stadium.
