Gateway Grizzlies News Release

The Grizzlies used good pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Windy City ThunderBolts 7-3 in front of 4,188 at GMC Stadium. The Grizzlies are now 9-5 on the season. Windy City falls to 6-5.

Windy City got a leadoff home run by Alph Coleman, before Grizzlies starter Kevin Lee retired nine of the next 10 hitters he faced. Lee went seven-plus innings striking out eight to improve to 3-0 on the year.

The Grizzlies scored three unearned runs in the second thanks to two errors by the ThunderBolts defense. They added another in the fourth when a sacrifice fly by Wayne Astrauskas scored Brad Bauder.

Phil Warren drove in Tony Coyne in the fifth, and then launched a solo home run in the eighth, before Daylon Monette doubled, and scored on an RBI single by Astrauskas.

Warren was 2-3 with the home run, double and two RBIs. Astrauskas was 1-3 with the two RBIs. Jimmy Reiter had an RBI single in four at-bats.

The Grizzlies and ThunderBolts will conclude the series with a 7:05 game Saturday night at GMC Stadium. For tickets call 618-337-3000.
