June 4, 2004 - Frontier League (FL)
Washington Wild Things News Release

Making his first professional start in his hometown, Eric Holt received plenty of run support and pitched the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, to a 13-2 victory over Florence.

Holt (1-0) pitched five innings, giving up one unearned run on five hits. The Trinity High School graduate struck out four and walked two.

The Wild Things offense scored early and often, putting up 12 runs in the first five innings. In the first inning, Washington batted around and scored four runs.

Washington scored two more runs in the second and chased Florence's starting pitcher, Bobby Graves (0-3), who gave up six runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Graves' replacement, Frank Mendible faired no better, also giving up six runs and seven hits in 2 2/3. Mendible faced seven batters in the fifth inning without recording an out. The Wild Things batted around again and scored five runs on six hits and would add another run in the seventh.

Every Wild Things batter had at least one hit except for newly acquired catcher Josh Gaub, who batted once. Bill Greenwell reached base in all five plate appearances and Jack Headley and Mike Arbinger each scored three runs.

Kyle Augsburger relieved Holt in the sixth inning and pitched the final four, giving up one unearned run on three hits, striking out three.

Washington (7-7) and Florence (6-8) conclude their three-game series tomorrow with a special start time of 6:05 p.m. and can be seen on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the ticket office at Falconi Field or online at www.washingtonwildthings.com.
