Grizzlies Sign Offensive Line Powerhouse
November 9, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Fairbanks Grizzlies News Release
The Fairbanks Grizzlies Indoor Football Team are pleased to announce the signing of Offensive Lineman James Thompson from the University of South Carolina. The 6'3 320lb offensive lineman was a four year starter at Sumter High School in South Carolina and earned USA Today All American honors before playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, TX. Thompson was ranked as the third-best prospect in South Carolina and the 44th-best player in the country by Tom Lemming. Thompson played in a reserve roll for the Gamecocks as a true freshman and started games as a sophomore and senior. Thompson caught on with the Sioux City Bandits late in the 2010 season.
"James had very strong games last year against Sioux Falls and Wichita and those teams had some of the best defensive lineman in the IFL last year. It was impressive to see some of his college film against LSU where he is standing toe to toe with current Kansas City Chief defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey. We want to be very physical up front and James will help us do just that" stated Fairbanks Head Coach Robert Fuller.
The Fairbanks Grizzlies are set to begin their 4th season of play in February 2011. Season tickets are available for purchase. Call 452-5123 for details.
