Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies will finish off their second-to-last homestand of the 2008 baseball season on Wednesday, August 6th when they host Kid-A-Palooza at Chukchansi Park. Kids under the age of 12 get into the Park for just $1, there will be free ice cream for everyone in attendance, and Diego (from "Go Diego Go") will appear and sign autographs.

The Grizzlies finish a four-game series with the visiting Nashville Sounds on Way Back Wednesday, presented by the Fresno Bee. Like all Wednesday's at Chukchansi Park, kids under the age of 12, seniors over the age of 55, and military personnel with ID can purchase a ticket for just one dollar. But the mid-week fun will not stop there as the team packs the final 10 games on the home schedule with fun for the whole family.

While much of the entertainment on Way Back Wednesday will be geared to kids, free ice cream is a concept that can appeal to Grizzlies fans of all ages. For the third consecutive year Chukchansi Park will offer free ice cream, all game long, to every single fan in attendance until it runs out. Fans can take advantage of the ice cream offer from the moment the gates open on Wednesday evening (6:05pm).

During the game, kids will see a very familiar face on the concourse in Diego, star of the wildly popular Nickelodeon program "Go Diego Go". Following in the footsteps of his cousin Dora the Explorer, who appeared at Chukchansi Park in July, Diego will sign autographs and take pictures with fans during the game.

Also, like all games this summer, kids and parents alike can beat the heat in the Holiday Pools Splash Zone. At the conclusion of the 4th inning, Parker will cool down the crowd in the right-field corner of Chukchansi Park with the Holiday Pools Squirt Buggy water cannon. Also, following the final out all kids will get the opportunity to run the bases on the field, an attraction presented by Del Taco and generally reserved just for Sundays.

"We want each and every one of our fans, regardless of age, to enjoy themselves from the moment they enter Chukchansi Park until the time they leave," said Grizzlies Vice President of Marketing Scott Carter. "With the special one-dollar ticket offer, and free ice cream, this was an opportunity to create an entire day of fun for children at the ballpark."

The Grizzlies wrap up their second-to-last homestand of the 2008 season with games against the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday and Wednesday night. The team returns to downtown Fresno for their final nine games of the season beginning on Saturday, August 16th against the Las Vegas 51's, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
