Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO - The Fresno Grizzlies Baseball Team, triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, is seeking both a public address announcer and an on-field emcee for the 2004 baseball season.
Next month the Grizzlies begin their search for the "Host With The Most". In an effort to encourage fan interaction and increase the excitement level at home-games, the Grizzlies will add a "field emcee" to the in-game entertainment staff. The "Host With The Most" field emcee will host contests during all 72 home games, introducing and executing on-field promotions while interacting with fans. New to Grizzlies Stadium, on-field emcees are becoming more and more common in Minor League Baseball everywhere from Sacramento to Rancho Cucamonga.
"In my experience, the fan interaction and personality a field emcee provides can make a big difference in terms of the overall fan experience," said Grizzlies president Pat Filippone. "I am excited to introduce Grizzlies fans to a new aspect of in-game entertainment."
The Grizzlies are also looking for a unique individual who hopes to etch his or her own voice into the minds of the next generation of baseball fans. The team is searching for a public address announcer who can convey enthusiasm and class while introducing line-ups, reading sponsor scripts and on occasion, improvising with the field emcee.
Both the field emcee and public address announcer must be high-energy individuals with confidence, a strong "stage presence" and the ability to improvise. Additionally, we are looking for those with strong, fun and magnetic personalities, who have a passion for baseball and the ability to entertain in a family-friendly atmosphere in front of crowds sometimes in excess of 12,000 fans. Both positions must be available to work all 72 home games from April to September, which includes many weekends and holidays, along with various team events as assigned.
The "Host With The Most" Contest is open to anyone 18 years or older who thinks they've got what it takes to be the Grizzlies' new field emcee or public address announcer. Applicants are required to submit a resume, along with a CD, DVD or VHS of their reading and/or performing of sample in-game scripts. Sample scripts are posted on the team website, www.fresnogrizzlies.com. To be considered, submissions must be postmarked no later than February 27 and sent to:
