Grizzlies roar back to end home stand on a high note

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH- The Grizzlies finished their five-game home stand tonight with a 4-2 victory over the San Antonio Rampage in front of 6,014 fans at the 'E' Center. Utah fell behind 2-0 in the second period but scored four unanswered goals to finish at 3-2 on the home stretch.

The Rampage scored the only goal in the first period when Ryan Jardine took a loose puck in front of Grizzlies goaltender David LeNeveu and backhanded it in for his fourth goal of the season, second against Utah. Greg Jacina and Gregory Campbell took the assists as San Antonio led 1-0 after 20 minutes. Patrick DesRoachers made six saves in net for the Rampage who doubled up the Grizzlies 12-6 on the shot board.

San Antonio added to their lead with great skating by Jardine at the 8:36 mark of the frame that set up a re-direction by Eric Beaudoin for his sixth goal of the season. Jay Bouwmeester also had an assist. Utah got on the board at the 14:45 mark and the annual *Teddy Bear Toss* began with all the fans tossing stuffed animals onto the ice to benefit needy children in the Greater Salt Lake City area. Jeff Taffe scored the goal for the Grizzlies on the power play with Peter White drawing the lone assist. The Rampage outshot the Grizzlies 10-7 in the period.

Utah came out on fire in the third period putting up three goals. The scoring started at the 1:07 mark of the frame when Peter White knocked a puck that was about waste-high past DesRoachers for his sixth goal of the year. Taffe and Keith Ballard had the assists on the game-tying goal, Utah would gain the lead at the 11:08 mark when Martin Sonnenberg took a great pass from Jarrod Skalde and found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season. Randall Gelech and Skalde had the assists. Utah finished off the Rampage with an empty-net goal, his eighth goal of the season. Utah outshot the Rampage 13-8 in the period but fell short for the game 30-26.

David LeNeveu earned the victory making 28 saves and Patrick DesRoachers took the loss making 22 saves.

The Grizzlies will be off until December 28th when they begin an eight-game road trip in Manchester against the Monarchs.
