
Auld to Team Canada, Moose recall McVicar

Today, the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced goaltender Alex Auld will join Team Canada for the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland beginning December 26th, 2004. As a result, the Moose have recalled goaltender Robert McVicar from the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL.
Auld, 23, has appeared in 15 games this season for the Moose, compiling a record of 9-4-1 with a goals against average of 2.49 and a save percentage of .915. In 113 career games with the Moose, the Cold Lake, AB native is 53-48-8 with a goals a career AHL against average of 2.74 and a career AHL save percentage of .907. In 38 NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks, Auld is 16-19-3 with a goals against average of 2.62 and a save percentage of .908. He was originally the second choice of the Florida Panthers' second choice, 40th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Auld also won a bronze medal with Team Canada at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Moscow, Russia.

McVicar, 22, has played in 11 games with the Columbia Inferno so far this season. He has a goals against average of 2.64 and a save percentage of .910 along with a 3-7-1 record. The Brandon, MB native appeared in 10 games with the Moose last year in his first season as a pro. He collected four wins to go along with three losses and two ties, while compiling a goals against average of 2.67 and a save percentage of .905. McVicar was originally drafted by the Canucks 151st overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
