SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The Fresno Grizzlies routed the Omaha Royals 16-2 Tuesday in Cactus League action at Scottsdale, Arizona. With the loss, the Royals Spring Training record drops to 2-7-2.
Omaha starter Ryan Jensen, who was signed by Kansas City as a free agent last November after spending the first nine seasons of his professional career with the Giants including all of last year with Fresno, had a rough outing. Jensen allowed seven runs, six earned, on eight hits over three innings. He walked three and struck out one.
Cory Aldridge went 2-for-4 for the Royals, stroking a double and a home run. He had two RBI and scored one run.
Justin Gemoll also had two hits and scored a run in four trips to the plate for Omaha.
The Royals next exhibition game is Wednesday against the Tacoma Rainiers at Surprise. Omaha opens its 2005 Pacific Coast League regular season on April 7th at Round Rock. The Royals host the same club in their home opener at Rosenblatt Stadium on Friday, April 15th at 7:05 p.m.
