
Grizzlies Hold off Blowfish

The Grizzlies put 6 on the board through 3 innings and held off the visiting Lexington County Blowfish, 6-4. Sammy Taormina started the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st and Jake Barbee added a 2-run single in the 2nd. Jackson Mims added a solo shot in the 3rd to give the Grizzlies and Michael Catlin a seemingly comfortable 6-0 lead, but the Blowfish countered with 3 in the 7th, another run in the 8th, and flew out to end the game with the bases loaded. Jacob Breakfield held on for the save and gets the Grizzlies to 5-9 on the season.
Looking ahead on the schedule, the Grizzlies are off tomorrow to prepare for a visit from the Savannah Bananas to Sims Legion on Saturday where they will host the 1st Annual Great Gastonia BBQ Fest! The Grizzlies will then travel to Forest City on Monday and return for a Doubleheader with Savannah on Tuesday. As for Lexington County, the BlowFish welcome the Florence RedWolves for a matchup tomorrow night, before heading to Martinsville on Saturday to meet up with the Mustangs. The Blowfish will begin the week with a return trip to Florence.
