
Grizzlies falter in finale

LOVES PARK, IL-The Rockford RiverHawks scored three runs in the fifth inning Wednesday night to defeat the Gateway Grizzlies 3-1 in front of 1,628 at Road Ranger Stadium.
Stephen Holdren accounted for the only run of the night for the Grizzlies. Holdren connected on his ninth home run of the season with two outs in the first to put the Grizzlies up 1-0.
The Grizzlies (13-14) managed only five hits on the night. Holdren had two of them. He was 2-4 with the homer.
Rockford (13-14) scored three runs on four hits off of Grizzlies starter Brandon Williams.
Williams (4-2) allowed the runs on seven hits in the complete game. He struck out three and walked four.
The Grizzlies return home to begin a nine-game home stand at GCS Ballpark. The Grizzlies take on the Windy City ThunderBolts Thursday afternoon beginning at 12:05 p.m.
