Paduch pitches complete-game victory

LOVES PARK, Ill. - Jim Paduch pitched a five-hitter on Wednesday as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Gateway Grizzlies, 3-1, at Road Ranger Stadium.

Paduch (3-2) recorded his first career nine-inning complete game. He struck out seven and walked one. Paduch gave up a first-inning home run to former RiverHawk Stephen Holdren. He allowed just five other Grizzlies to reach base.

Rockford scored three times in the fifth inning off Gateway starter Brandon Williams (4-2), who lost a complete-game decision. Aaron Davis singled in two runs and Matt Borman doubled in a run.

The RiverHawks open a nine-game road trip with a 7:05 p.m. game Thursday at Evansville.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
