
Grizzlies Fall 4-1 in Road Opener

Indianapolis, Indiana - The Utah Grizzlies fall to the Indy Fuel, 4-1 on Thursday night at the Indiana Fairgrounds Coliseum.
It was the first game in a five game road trip for the Grizzlies, who play at Kansas City on Saturday and at Wichita next Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Fuel outshot the Grizzlies 27 to 19 in the game. Indy outshot Utah 12 to 5 in the first period. The Fuel took a 1-0 lead after a Robert Powers goal.
Utah tied up the game 1-1 after Austin Carroll scored his first goal of the year with 9 seconds left in the period. Carroll now has 5 points in his last 3 games with 1 goal and 4 assists. Cole Ully got an assist on the goal. Ully now has a point in 6 of his 7 games this season. Ully is now tied with Kevin Davis with 7 assists on the year.
Indy scored 42 seconds into the second period to take a 2-1 lead as Matt Rupert scored his first of two goals on the night. Indy extended the lead to 3-1 after Olivier Labelle scored his third goal of the season.
Rupert scored his second goal of the game on an empty net goal with 1:56 left in regulation to give the Fuel a 4-1 lead, which held up as Kevin Lankinen was solid in goal for Indy, stopping 18 of 19 shots on goal.
The Grizzlies went 0 for 5 on the power play, while the Fuel went 0 for 3 on the man advantage.
The loss in regulation was the first for the Utah Grizzlies this season. Utah began the year with a 6 game streak of registering at least 1 standings point. With the loss, the Grizzlies fall to 4-1-2 on the year. Indy goes to 4-3 on the year, including 4-2 at home.
It was the first of four games between the two teams in the month of November. The Grizzlies return home to Maverik Center on November 14th, 16th and 17th against the Fuel. It will be the Fuel's first trip to Utah in their team's history.
The Grizzlies head to Kansas City for a Saturday night match-up with the Kansas City Mavericks. 6:00 pm mountain time face-off.
