
MacDonald Is the MeiGray Group/ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Elmira Jackals and Toledo Walleye defenseman Jacob MacDonald is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for October.
The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 7,800 jerseys since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.
The 25-year-old scored his first career NHL goal in his NHL debut for the Florida Panthers on Oct. 6 against Tampa Bay. He also saw action in the Panthers' game on Oct. 11 against Tampa Bay before he was reassigned to Springfield of the?American Hockey League where he posted six points (3g-3a) in seven games.
MacDonald made his pro debut with Elmira in 2014-15, appeaering in eight games after completing his collegiate career at Cornell University. In his rookie season in 2015-16, he was named to ECHL?All-Rookie Team after posting 37 points (10g-27a) in 72 games. He began the 2016-17 season with Toledo, earning 26 points (7g-19a) in 30 games before joining Albany of the AHL?where he had 24 points (8g-16a) in 34 games.
Last season, MacDonald led all AHL defensemen with 20 goals and 55 points in 75 games with Binghamton while being named to the AHL?First All-Star Team.
There have been 644 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including three who have made their debut in 2018-19. The ECHL has had 449 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 388 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last 14 seasons for an average of more than 27 per year.
